02

The Meaning Of MARU

In Japanese, “Maru” means circle — a symbol of completeness, protection, and return. It is often associated with ship names, carrying the idea of leaving port, travelling the world, and returning safely home.

Nihon Maru

The design of MARU draws inspiration from the ship Nihon Maru, built by Kuki Yoshitaka in 1591 — the first known vessel associated with the word “Maru” at the end of its name. It reflects the spirit of departure, endurance, and a safe return home.

From Ship To Watch

That inspiration carries directly into the watch itself. The curves, side profile, and engraved details are rooted in the idea of a vessel built for the journey. MARU was designed not only to explore, but to embody the full circle — leaving, travelling, and returning.

The Caseback

The engraved ship on the caseback completes the story. It serves as a reminder that MARU was built around meaning, not just function — a symbol of safe passage, return, and the complete journey.

MARU: RELOADED

MARU: RELOADED marks the return of that original idea — rebuilt with subtle upgrades, refined details, and the same spirit that made the first MARU so memorable to collectors.
